Does your child bite? (MINE!)
Have trouble following directions? (yes, sometimes)
Does your little one struggle taking turns? (of course)
Easily lose his/her temper? (duh)

So basically, do you have a child that is typical? If your answer is yes, then do we have a workshop for you! On September 25th from 5:30-8:30pm, Julie Gettings (a mother of 3, therapist, and certified parent-child interaction therapist) will be teaching a course to parents of children ages newborn to 12 called a Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement Workshop. The cost for community members if $75 per couple (or mom/grandma, nanny/friend), but she is offering it at $40 for BMA members!

More about CARE

CARE Workshops were developed for parents and caregivers of children ages 2 - 12 and are based on the core skills of Parent- Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an evidence-based treatment for young children with disruptive behaviors. The goal of CARE is to strengthen the adult-child relationship and increase positive behaviors. CARE is divided into two parts:

* Relationship Enhancement - Caregivers learn skills to decrease negative behaviors while developing positive communication with their child.
* Strategies for Compliance - Caregivers learn elements of effective discipline and child management skills such as how to give good commands, when and how to use selective ignoring and other discipline stragegies to redirect problematic behaviors.

Children do not attend this workshop as the goal is for parents to learn. Both caregivers are allowed to attend for a single ticket purchase. During this 3 hour workshop you will learn specific skills and interventions to use immediately with your child(ren).
